IVF Embryo Transfer Fertility Treatment In Vitro Fertilization

The dream of starting a family is a powerful one, and for some couples, the path to parenthood may require a little extra support. "That is where we come in. The process of in vitro fertilization (IVF) is a treatment that has helped countless couples achieve their dream."

At Bridge Clinic, we understand the journey of IVF can feel overwhelming, and filled with questions and emotions. That's why we are here to guide you through the process step-by-step.

IVF refers to medical procedures that combine an egg and sperm in the IVF laboratory, with the goal of creating a healthy embryo. This embryo can then be transplanted into the uterus, where it has the potential to grow and develop into a baby.

The IVF Process Step-by-Step in Nigeria

1. Initial Consultation and Evaluation:

This is your chance to meet with our fertility specialists, discuss your medical history, have tests done as a couple, results reviewed, and learn about your specific treatment options.

2. Ovarian stimulation and Monitoring:

Fertility medications are often used to stimulate the ovaries and produce multiple follicles, which house a woman's eggs. Regular ultrasound scans and blood tests will monitor follicular development.

3. Egg Retrieval:

A minimally invasive procedure done under conscious sedation with pain relief, that removes mature eggs from the ovaries.

4. Sperm Collection:

Sperm can be obtained through an ejaculated semen sample or through surgical sperm retrieval methods like testicular aspiration.

5. Fertilization:

In the IVF laboratory, the sperm cell is introduced to the egg with the hope of achieving fertilization. Techniques like Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) can be used to increase the chances of fertilization.

6. Embryo Culture:

Fertilized eggs are monitored closely in an incubator over 5 days as they develop into embryos.

7. Embryo Transfer:

One or more healthy embryos are carefully placed in the uterus, where implantation can occur.

8. Pregnancy Test:

After a two-week waiting period, a pregnancy test will confirm if implantation has been successful.
