For Women & Couples
What can we do for you?
Frozen embryo transfer (FET) is a procedure where a frozen embryo from a previous IVF cycle is thawed and transferred to the uterus. With a frozen embryo transfer, you do not need to go through another round of hormone stimulation or egg collection, making it a less invasive process. FET can be done without hormonal medication in certain circumstances.
Is frozen embryo transfer right for you?
Frozen embryo transfer might be an option if:
- You have gone through an IVF cycle but did not get pregnant or you experienced a pregnancy loss.
- You have completed an IVF cycle and wish to have another baby.
- You are undergoing IVF, and your doctor recommends delaying the embryo transfer for a better chance of pregnancy.
- You are not yet ready to have a baby but want to preserve the option for the future.
- Your partner is about to undergo medical treatment or a procedure that could affect their fertility, and you want to secure the possibility of starting a family later.
What is the frozen embryo transfer process?
Frozen embryo transfer involves 7 steps:
Consultation
A consultation session will be held with the doctor to review the process, address any concerns, and discuss what to expect.
Diagnostic testing
Tests will be conducted, followed by a consultation to review the results and discuss the personalised treatment plan.
Preparing the uterus
Ultrasound scans will be carried out to confirm that the uterine lining is ready for embryo transfer.
Thawing and selecting embryos
The frozen embryos will be thawed and evaluated for suitability, and an embryo will be selected for transfer.
Transferring the embryo
The selected embryo will be transferred into the uterus using a catheter, guided by ultrasound.
Checking the embryo
An ultrasound scan will be carried out to ensure the embryo is successfully transferred.
Taking a pregnancy test
Two weeks after the transfer, a pregnancy test will be taken to confirm pregnancy.
How much does frozen embryo transfer cost?
*Note: that this cost does not include infection screening, which is required before the transferor the cost of medication(if needed). These figures do not also include the cost of medication or your personalised treatment plan.
